Historic Canal Place is the proud recipient of the 2008 Erie Canalway Heritage Award of Excellence!

No matter which way you may travel to Little Falls, north, south, east or west, to get to Canal Place, you just have to follow the signs...it's that simple!  Many people who come to this community also return to purchase and restore older homes and become part of our community.  We are proud of the diversity this community offers, and the vast examples of magnificent architecture, too.  So, just don't visit Canal Place, please visit all the aspects that Little Falls has to offer.

This stone building was erected in 1839, the oldest building in the historic district.  Originally known as Stitt & Underhill, the mill produced wool uniform cloth under military contracts during the Mexican-American and Civil Wars.  Like the many other mills in Little Falls, water from the Mohawk River was used to power the machinery.  This mill was expanded by 1845 to double its size and was used as a textile mill.  It has been said that uniforms for the Civil War were made here, and uniforms used in the second World War were embroidered here.

We are located at 410 Canal Place (formerly South Ann Street), Little Falls, New York...Historic Canal Place

David Taylor and Richard Vogt purchased the mill building in June, 2005.  The first floor, which is the only level for retail open to the public in the building, houses "The Mustard Seed," a big little gift shop, in conjunction with "Stone Mill Antiques."  (315) 823-0718  mseedlittlefalls@yahoo.com

Ole Sal's Ice Cream is located on the first floor and features soft and hard ice cream, soup and sandwiches, and many bakery items (315-868-0910).  www.olesals.com

Also located on the first floor in the Ole Sal's Cafe area are many specialty areas featuring collectables, candles, clothing, jewelry, ceramics, glass, both old and new books, natural healing, and more!
